| The entrance lobby and canopy for this theatre and conference centre in Welwyn Garden City were constructed in PPC steel with patterned solid polycarbonate roof glazing in an aluminium glazing system. The client, Welwyn Hatfield Borough Council, was looking to extend the entrance lobby and provide a covered area for people to queue in the dry whilst waiting to buy tickets for roller skating or the theatre. The structure was required to cantilever out to minimise the requirement for supporting posts, hence the steel construction. The rainwater outlet is inside the posts so there are no visible down pipes. The structure was galvanized then Polyester powder coated to the client’s colour scheme, with the hand rails shaped around the 220mm posts to give an attractive curved finish. | |
